On June 5th, 2024, Sharada Vidya Mandira celebrated World Environment Day with a vibrant program that saw enthusiastic participation from the Principal, Vice Principals, board members, faculty, and all students. The primary aim was to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean environment, promoting the reuse of plastic, and encouraging tree planting to purify the air and enhance the greenery of our planet. The day began with a special morning assembly where Madam Sonam Kumari from the Department of Science addressed the gathering, followed by an introductory speech from Keerthi and Pallavi of grade 8, passionately highlighting the necessity of environmental conservation.

The program featured a series of engaging activities designed to educate students about the environment. These included poster making, speeches on environmental topics, singing songs related to nature, and a fancy dress show by grade 3 students showcasing costumes made from recycled materials. Additionally, students created models using reused plastic items, promoting creativity and recycling. An invocation song performed under the guidance of the music department set a reflective mood for the day’s events. A tree plantation drive, where saplings were planted around the school campus by students, board members, and faculty, fostered a sense of responsibility and connection with nature.

Grade 7 students presented a dance and mime performance creatively highlighting the importance of environmental conservation, while grade 10 students performed a skit depicting the adverse effects of pollution and deforestation, followed by a dance celebrating the beauty of nature. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Madam Sreeja U from the Department of Science, who expressed gratitude to all participants, organizers, and guests for their contributions to the success of the event. The celebration of World Environment Day at SVM School was a resounding success, heightening awareness of pressing environmental issues among students and motivating them to take positive actions towards protecting and restoring our planet. The activities were enjoyed by all, showcasing the students’ enthusiasm and commitment to making a difference.
